Similar to the famed Sapphire Bullets, Count Drinkalot is an alias that They Might Be Giants have often taken on. The name seems to come from the fact that under this moniker, John and John would urge the audience to drink— a lot. Coming to a concert featuring Count Drinkalot, who would usually perform the first part of the band's show, would guarantee an acoustic set, with Flansburgh rocking the acoustic guitar and Linnell on the accordion. Count Drinkalot was mostly an act of the band's early years, appearing before TMBG in concert up to the early 1990s. However, legend has it that Count Drinkalot still performs to this very day, appearing in the great and mystical bar scene that one could say defines the United States of America at its very core.
