Trivia/Info

  • This song, which later became "Seven," features a nearly identical instrumental track with completely unrelated lyrics and went unheard for more than four years after Here Come The 123s was released. It was described in an email as "the original recording of a song that turned into another song!"
  • In a 2008 interview with The Lance, Linnell spoke about the origins of "Seven" as a Dust Brothers-produced track intended for The Else with different lyrics:[1]
There’s a track on Here Comes the 123s that was originally going to be an Else song. The drum loop from it was provided by the Dust Brothers and we built up the track on top of that and then, ultimately, it just turned into this song about the number seven without really changing the music at all. It seemed liked it would work really well with this lyric about seven. I mean, the lyric could only be for that project, but the music didn’t have to change at all to move from the grown-ups to the kids.
  • Fresh Kills Landfill was a landfill in Staten Island, New York that operated from 1948 until 2001. In October 2008, construction began on a park built atop the former landfill. Cheesequake (alternately pronounced "chess-quick"[2]) is an unincorporated community in Old Bridge Township, New Jersey.
