Trivia/Info
- When asked in a brief 1999 interview on Morning Becomes Eclectic if this song was to "make up for the fact that you can't get all of the states on an album," John Linnell said:
Well no, actually I just like the idea of having a theme song for the project. In a way, it's almost like an explanation for the rest of the songs, although I could sympathize with somebody who thought it was an inadequate explanation because the songs are on the surface there, anthems for the states. But if you listen to the lyrics, they really don't have very much to do with the actual states in most cases. I feel sympathetic for someone who found that irritating.
- After Linnell sings the last "I can't wait for my favorite one", he plays a bit of the melody to the song "Arkansas". Linnell:
I thought it was funny to have this incredibly biased thing right there on the record, that says "here's the best song on the record." Again, it's not really what I think. I mean I don't think "Oregon is bad," and I don't think "Arkansas" is my favorite song, but I just thought it was funny to express an up-front opinion like that.
- This song was first played on October 7th, 1995 along with songs from the State Songs (EP) and miscellaneous covers, although this song was not included on the EP and has no known demo recordings from that time.
