[edit] About Me

My name is Jason, and I've been a TMBG fan since 2007. I went to my first TMBG show over at Columbus Circle, best day of my life! I play the drums, and if you want me to create any Drum Tabs for any song, just ask, and I will gladly create them. I know how to play half of the TMBG discography, and I can't single out one song to tab out for this community. If you have seen someone on YouTube with They Might Be Giants Drum Covers, that is me!

[edit] My Discovery of TMBG

I wouldn't exactly say I discovered John and John through Homestar Runner or the Experimental Film video at all. It started out when I was in around 6th grade, I was downloading songs for Stepmania, a Dance Dance Revolution clone for the PC. One of the songs came in a song pack, turns out it was called Particle Man, by some group called They Might Be Giants. I thought it was extremely weird, yet fun. Then I lost interest in the game, but every time I read the name "They Might Be Giants", I remembered that awesome song Particle Man. Fast forward 4 years. I ordered some Homestar Runner DVDs after being a fan of the series since 3rd grade. And I saw a video in Music Videos called "Experimental Film." I didn't recall ever watching it, so I started watching it. I was sold. It was such a catchy tune, an amazing video and it was great. Then I checked out their puppet jams, Mission Control and Everybody Knows It, they were the greatest things on this planet. I was eager to learn more, buying songs off iTunes and going on YouTube, looking at songs such as Birdhouse In Your Soul and Istanbul (Not Constantinople), I'm glad to be such a big fan of They, and I WISH THEY WOULD PUT DIAL-A-SONG BACK UP!!!!!!

[edit] They Might Be Drummers

Did you know that I've somehow spoken with every drummer of They Might Be Giants?

I spoke with Brian Doherty on MySpace, asking him about his technique on live versions of Snail Shell. And we had a pleasant conversation.

I asked Dan Hickey if he still kept in touch with TMBG, and he replied simply saying "No, I don't." I tried to take it an extra step and ask how he was kicked out or why he left, but I got no reply.

And on February 23rd, 2008, I met Marty Beller and got to stand within 3 inches of him! Pics below.

Hopefully in the future, I'll drum for TMBG, and fans will get excited when talking to me. Hey, I can dream, right?
