John F. here. When one is in a middle-sized band, half the time you feel you are grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory. This feeling was burnished when the first pressing of this John Henry vinyl project (so long awaited by y’all, and complicated to organize for us) sold out completely just hours after we put it on sale. Great, but how could we be so very wrong about the level of interest? Well, we dusted ourselves off, put on our "rush-order” overalls and called the record plants to get it back in stock fast.
So now we are proud and happy to report, just weeks later, JOHN HENRY IS HERE AGAIN, and in a brand new color way — NEON ORANGE. This two-disc set is an audiophile's dream, with the full 20-track program of the original release lovingly remastered by Sterling Sound and spread over three LP sides. Side D is all live rarities of the John Henry era, pressed on vinyl for the very first time: O, Do Not Forsake Me, AKA Driver, Sleeping in the Flowers, Snail Shell, Meet James Ensor, A Self Called Nowhere. Presented on 180g vinyl, this is an Idlewild-exclusive release.
