Timothy Newman
Timothy Newman is a jazz musician who toured with They Might Be Giants on numerous occasions from the John Henry days through the early 2000s, playing trombone and bass trombone. He contributed trombone to the studio recording of "S-E-X-X-Y," and can be seen in the video for "Doctor Worm" despite not playing on the recording. Timothy and Jim O'Connor have occasionally "battled" musically on stage, in what was dubbed "Battle 'O 'Im" (named after the _im's in their names). Newman was in the original lineup of Sapphire Bullets, playing the role of Justin.
In addition to his credits with They Might Be Giants, Newman has also performed on Broadway and has worked with various orchestras throughout his career.[2] He currently teaches at William Paterson University, his alma mater.[ [3]]
