I came across this site while investigating the existence of something TMBG did in 1990 called "Grumpfest". Here's a list of what they have in the 't' section that's relevantish. I've only heard of the '89 tour. You? -TDK 15:57, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Seeing as there's no official one, I made an RSS feed of the Recent News on the main page for my own use using feed43.com. Since it's so useful, I thought maybe someone with the authority to edit the main page might want to add the proper code to allow others to use it. At any rate, the url is http://feed43.com/8118086204587380.xml for anyone interested. --Scottus0 03:54, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Anyone else feel that we need a lineup page to show TMBG's different members throughout the years? --liam (wtf?) 22:37, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
You mean something similar to "Evolution of Man"? Or a comparison chart? --Dunklekuh81 14:56, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Concerning the Employee Of The Month tidbit: For what it's worth I believe that the 2040 Tour Shirt listed the No Doubt Playhouse (in, I believe, Branson, MO) as a stop. I think that shirt was from about '96, making it a decade-length callback! So is a reference to Superfueled Freaksicle, actually. Even that picture on the Myspace page has a Factory Showroom vibe. --Tisher 06:40, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
On some alternate-version pages (and by that I mean pages for demos and live versions of songs), the song themes area is left blank, despite there being themes for the regular page of the song. And on others, the song themes are either completely filled in, incomplete, or are specific to only that version. This is one of the only unregulated areas of the wiki that I see as a "problem" (besides whether or not we have lyrics pages for alternate versions when they're the same as the normal versions' lyrics, but that's for another day...). So basically, I think we should decide on a standard to go by for alternate version pages.
It would probably be a pain to make all the alternate versions have all the themes of the normal versions, what with having to keep it regularly updated, which would entail using a bot and probably some more complicated ifeq= thingamabobs. So I say, on the alternate versions' pages, we clear off the themes. I do think we should keep special themes, such as James K. Polk (Wax Cylinder Recording) (for which we'd only keep the wax-cylinder theme), though I'm not sure if we should keep themes that come as the result of differing lyrics, as in Birdhouse In Your Soul (Demo) (for which we'd only keep themes pertaining to yummy desserts and such). Whatever we decide to do though (if anyone feels like tackling this at all), I just think it would be nice to have regularity when it comes to these versions of songs.
PS: I'm not sure if a bot could do the job if we decide to clear off the themes we'd want to get rid of while also keeping the certain different themes we'd want to preserve. Unless we did without a bot, on our own, for probably hundreds of pages. ~ magbatz 02:08, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
I was checking out my friend Dan's DAS shirt today and noticed a song entitled "We Found You". I looked it up on the wiki and it was nowhere to be found. Does anybody have any information on this song? Thanks for the help.--Mr.klaw 19:04, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Hello! I'm not sure if this is "recent news worthy" for the main page, but the Brothers Chaps recently made a public appearance at Georgia Tech, and mentioned their collaborations, both new and old, with TMBG. Here's the page from the HRWiki, (you can download the video at the bottom of the page). kai lyn 13:09, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
I searched the net but couldn't find where to go to donate directly to TMBG. Anybody know if they accept donations?
I was just on IGN looking at some TMBG stuff that they had, when i did a search and saw a band pic icon... Only it was more like a pic of They Might Be Fuzzy Bear Monsters. I couldnt find a bigger one but heres the link. Maybe this iis somehow related to The Else's snowy owl men. Any explinations anyone?? -Cody-schmidt
I can't really think of a better place to put this, so here it goes. I'd like to organize a flash collab where people animate 10 - 30 second snippets of songs from The Else and then we string them together into a collaboration. If you're interested in participating, go to my talk page and post your username, links to previous flash work, and the top 3 songs you'd like to animate. I'll take the 12 users (+ myself) that have the best looking previous work, and we'll put together the collab. Further instructions to those that get chosen later. -AtionSong 18:00, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Here is a "teaser" I found on YouTube for the Lemur concerts. It features John Linnell listening to the robots play Vestibule. -AtionSong 16:16, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
I've been looking around, and noticed that the wiki does not have a list of the singles for each album. And I don't mean these singles. I think it would be nice to list them on a page somewhere, if anyone knows all the singles. Akagi 02:37, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
According to my clock, it's been June 10 for, oh, almost 22 hours. Plan on updating the front page anytime soon? :) Stalefries 04:48, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
is beautiful. ~ magbatz 03:44, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
It was brought up in a few places, but overall, somehow I think we completely missed the fact that TMBG did the score for Laika's short movie, "Moongirl". Anyone know anything about this movie, or have a copy of it on DVD? Here's a link to Laika's site, where you can watch a short clip - laika.com.
On Hine Mizushima's blog, there is a screen cap for the end credits, which just shows "Score by They Might Be Giants". We've never done anything for a score before, so I'm not sure if we should just treat it as one song, or what. Thoughts? --Duke33 17:13, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
Craig Robinson is the creator of Minipops, which are drawings of famous people in miniature scale (just a few pixels). He's got almost everyone a fellow can imagine, and as I was scrolling through his list, I found They Might Be Giants. Check it out! He's really good at this kind of thing. Didn't think it was front-pageworthy, but this is a nice place for it. --Mosesofthecows 14:01, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Wikipedia tells me that Hy Zaret just died, anyone think this is front-page-worthy?--Anextrafacelol 00:25, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Brooklyn's ambassadors of love are gracing Conan O'Brien's set once again... the question is, with what song? I'd say it's between Take Out The Trash and Climbing The Walls, though it'd be hard to figure which one. Actually, now that I think of it, I'm fairly certain they'll play Climbing the Walls. That's my guess. ~ magbatz 01:24, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
According to a myspace bulletin They posted today, "They Might Be Giants will be performing "I'm Impressed" on Late Night with Conan O'Brien this Friday!" Yay :D --Hermy-o-ninny
"I'm Impressed"?! Noooes! Gah, I had a feeling they'd play it, though. They're definately trying to appeal to the more angsty listeners with this decision. Man, I REALLY wanted them to play "The Cap'm". It's still going to be awesome. I love singing along to "I'm Impressed". --Your Half 03:58, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Holy lordy, I can't wait for this! Does anyone else think they're always at the top of their game when they're on Conan?--Anextrafacelol 03:49, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Um, I turned it on to watch it, but it got all glitchy then scrubs came on. Did this happen to anyone else or am I just the most unlucky TMBG fan in the world? -Entropy
I'm so sorry that happened to you. Don't worry, it's bound to be on Youtube by tomorrow. Did anyone else notice that Linnell was wearing the same tie he wore in '01 for Man, It's So Loud In Here?--INeedACrane 05:37, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Yusssss, fixed just in time. HAPPY-NESS! -Entropy
Was it me or did Flans looked kind of pissed the whole time? And Marty just didn't look like, well, Marty. Seemed like they were having an "off" day today. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 07:03, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Was it me or did Flans looked kind of pissed the whole time?
I was thinking the same exact thing when I saw him. Like his shirt was too tight or something, or like his face was about to explode! I really thought they were all nervous as hell, especially Linnell. His voice was cracking more than a prepubescent teen that just stumbled into the girls locker room! It looked like he thought Conan was going to bite him or something at the end. MIC SLAP! ----
I missed it! I was babysitting and came home before it came on and I fell asleep. At least I had my aunt DVR it for me. :P --Lemita 14:35, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Podcast 28B and 28C are now on dialasong.com!
According to this page, "TMBG have toured Australia 4 times, and will tour again to support 'The Else'!" Exciting news. For me. Anybody spotted any other news about TMBG's worldwide tour plans? Remembering that Flans announced that the new CD releases "will be accompanied by a stop in your town on our extensive international tour" when the new dialasong.com was launched. --pat 08:06, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Good news, Soundcheck has a podcast, so you can download it whenever, instead of tuning in to the stream. Linky (iTunes): [1] Stalefries 04:14, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Don't know if the song is already on there. It sounds like TMBG and is based on the DD commercials from the people who make them. So yeah:
It's already a song, check out the REAL Things I Like To Do video -- Goodtimes2
Oh. Well, I guess I have never seen the Dunkin commercials before.
I see that iTunes and Amazon are mentioned on the front page. The Else is also available from eMusic (http://www.emusic.com/album/They-Might-Be-Giants-The-Else-MP3-Download/11050914.html). Depending on your subscription plan, the entire album can be downloaded (legally) for as little as $3.47. Of course, before you go the eMusic route you should check out what else they offer. If your tastes (aside from TMBG) are mostly mainstream, you could get seriously ticked off with what is on offer. If you enjoy music from "independent" musicians, you may get more out of it.
Each album has links to the next and previous albums on its page. So, why not do the same with songs? I hate having to go back to the album page just to select the next song. For example, having links to "Everything Wrong is Right Again" and "Number Three" on the page for "Put Your Hand Inside the Puppet Head." I like reading the songs respective articles as I listen through TMBG albums so this would be a helpful feature. - Teddyleevin
I know it's not perfect or the prettiest, but what about doing something like this:
| Don't Let's Start Track Navigation | |
| They Might Be Giants (Album) Track #4 | |
| Previous Song: #3 Number Three | Next Song: #5 Hide Away Folk Family |
| A User's Guide to They Might Be Giants: Melody, Fidelity, Quantity Track #4 | |
| Previous Song: #3 Particle Man | Next Song: #5 She's An Angel |
Which is produced by this:
{{User:Joltman/SongNavTop|SongName=Don't Let's Start}}
{{User:Joltman/SongNav
|Album=They Might Be Giants (Album)
|TrackNum=4
|PrevSongNum=3
|PrevSong=Number Three
|NextSongNum=5
|NextSong=Hide Away Folk Family
}}
{{User:Joltman/SongNav
|Album= A User's Guide to They Might Be Giants: Melody, Fidelity, Quantity
|TrackNum=4
|PrevSongNum=3
|PrevSong=Particle Man
|NextSongNum=5
|NextSong=She's An Angel
}}
|}
I'm not expecting this to be used as is, but I hope it at least gets an idea out there. -Joltman 13:58, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, this might not be the best place for this but I have no where else to put it.
I can't seem to be able to rate songs! I can choose the rating, then click the button, and it will reload and say "your vote has been added" (or whatever it is) and say it has moved the song up x places, BUT it shows that the same number of people have rated it as before, and when i go to the song rankings page, it has NOT moved up or down, AND when I go back to the song page it lets me rate it again. Why doesn't it work? --Antgeth 05:04, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
Did we drop the page of "songs with less than ten votes"? I just went to find it... John-O-Cide
D'oh, sorry, I didn't bother checking to see if anyone else had asked... and, ofcourse, it would be right on top of me. Johnocide
Let me know, I have an extra (wife on biz trip to Hong Kong). Ticket is at Will Call. I'll exchange it in person at the Bowery Ballroom.
Give me a buzz, I'll give you a discount on it.

Is this news? There's an article about The Else and Flans' red ES-335 on the Gibson Guitar website: http://www.gibson.com/backstage%20pass/200707/TBMG/
-- Don Tillman
With the recent decision that back-forward links won't be on track pages, why don't we streamline track navigation on the album pages, by adding links to the lyrics, download, and interpretation (or guitar tabs, whichever is deemed more important)? For example, The Else tracks would be listed like this:
...etc. You can find the rough outline of the template here. - ElbridgeGerry 18:44, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

A cover of Particle Man is on this commercial! That's front page news-worthy, right? --WhatIsThatThing 01:58, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
I went to the ANHS a few days ago, and there was a reference to TMBG in their discription to some sea creature. The title of some paragraph about a huge sea creature is called "They Might Be Giants". I even got a picture of it. (It is found on the top floor of the room with the Blue Whale life-size model) I'd love to upload the picture somewhere, but I don't know how... --Some guy with an foot

Looking through the TMBG shows currently available for purchase from http://www.theymightbegiants.com, I've noticed a song (or several related songs?) that I can't find any info about here on the wiki, so I thought I would ask all of you guys. I found three "Hits" songs on theymightbegiants.com:
Searching the wiki, I only found a couple mentions of these songs, but with no real helpful info:
So, that's what I could find. Now can anybody add anything to it? ~Drew
They're referring to the band intros/thanks, which are punctuated by drum "hits" similar to the kind James Brown would use to punctuate his grunts and statements. I imagine "MoveOn Hits" is so named because Flans is talking about the new compilation. --Oddjob 14:28, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
There's a show on theymightbedownloads.com that I desperately want to buy (this one, if you're wondering), but I don't have a credit card. Would anyone be willing to buy this show for me and let me reimburse them via PayPal? Either reply here or email pat(at)blimpage.com. THANKS. pat 07:24, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Don't they allow for purchase using checks or money orders? Go examine the site and see if you can do that. I've done it on other sites before, it's easy and foolproof.
Hi folks,
I'm trying to find the "Dr. Spock's Backup Band" bootleg somewhere on the net... since this isn't officially released I don't see it as morally wrong, or stealing from the Johns... so far my search has been fruitless. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

This month's issue #2 of the Marvel Comics miniseries Super-Villain Team-Up: MODOK's 11 (the title of which is a reference to the Ocean's 11 series of films) features two TMBG references: The story itself is entitled "Prevenge, Or: 'The Plan,' " and the book's opening splash page has a banner across the top that reads, "Can you tell that I'm planning prevenge? Read my mind, yes, I'm planning prevenge. Fully moto / On the headfo / Rock the info / The micro-type king" --They Might Be Giants. And it fits writer Fred Van Lente's story perfectly. -Drew
