Description[edit]

In December 2025, John Flansburgh announced through Tumblr that an accompanying EP will release before the band's 24th album,[1] containing 3 unique songs and potentially a remix.[2][3]

In a December 19, 2025 newsletter, the band confirmed that the EP would be released in January 2026, and its title and release date were announced on January 5 via social media. The artwork was designed by Flansburgh.[4]

The fourth track, a remix of the EP's title track "Eyeball", marks The Elegant Too's first remix of a TMBG song in 15 years, the previous one being "You Probably Get That A Lot (Elegant Too Remix)."

Upon the EP's release on TMBG Shop, John Linnell said the following:

Our favorite way of making albums is to write and record too many songs and then arrange the ones that work together as an album. We always have a bunch of good tracks left over to make an EP. I'm sure there's some exact equivalent process that goes on in the kitchen of a fancy restaurant but I'm just guessing here. Anyway these are the "amuse-bouche" or perhaps "amuse-oreille" tracks that we hope will be an enticing appetizer before the next album emerges from the oven.
