- The band were scheduled to perform at Les Foufounes Électriques in Montréal, QC on November 3, 1984[1][2], but the show was cancelled according to John Linnell. In a 2023 Tumblr ask, John Flansburgh mentioned that the band was originally scheduled to open for John Cale at this show. However, he may have indirectly been referring to the band's show at Larry's Hideaway in Toronto, ON on January 15, 1986, as listings for the cancelled Électriques show do not mention They Might Be Giants opening for Cale.
- John Linnell played several shows as a member of The Lonesome Debonaires in 1984. According to frontman Jonathan Gregg, the group played "six gigs with five different drummers" before disbanding.[3] Dates for two of these shows are currently known — August 9 and September 26, both at CBGB.[4][5]
